Manifesto

We begin with artists. We work with care. We produce, not for spectacle, but for depth.

The performing arts are not a luxury. They are not supplementary to culture — they are where culture happens. Where the body's intelligence meets the audience's attention. Where something alive passes between people in real time.

ALIF was founded on a conviction: that artists deserve serious infrastructure. Not management in the transactional sense. Not representation as a service. But a genuine, sustained commitment to the conditions in which bold, rigorous work can be made and seen.

We work across three territories: Creative Producing, Artist Representation, Creative Capacity Building; and these are not departments. They are orientations. Different ways of asking the same question: What does this work need? Who needs to encounter it? Who is not yet in the room?

We do not ask the work to resolve what it has been asked to hold. A classical form meeting a contemporary question. A root reaching toward a stage it has not yet stood on. The inherited and the invented. These are not contradictions. They are where the work lives.

We ask questions that do not have easy answers. About gender and power. About whose work gets resourced and whose body is considered legible on the stage. We ask these questions not from a position of critique alone, but from inside the practice — as producers, artists, scholars, and educators who have skin in the game.

Boldness is not about spectacle. It is the willingness to stand behind work that is demanding and uncompromising, even when the market is uncertain.

Excellence is not polish. It is what happens when you stay in genuine contact with the work — with craft, with process, with the question of why you are making this at all.

Respect is structural. It shows up in how we write a contract, how we credit an artist, how we speak about the work in rooms where it cannot defend itself.

Integrity is the thing we will not trade. Not for a commission. Not for convenience.
